My sweet Aunt Betty made the great transition yesterday.

 Soooo… This morning I was journaling to Betty about her recent transition and how great it must be to not be in pain anymore and be reunited with Trey and the rest of her family. I talked to her about how wonderful it must be to hear again! Then I asked Betty for a sign that even though she’s on the other side of the veil, she can tune into me when I talk to her. Dad’s sign is a 10 point buck and mom’s is a black butterfly with blue and orange on its wings. I wondered what Betty’s would be…

Then I ate breakfast and got dressed and was in the bathroom putting on my sunscreen to go run. The house was quiet. Then outside the bathroom window this bird was chirping really loudly and it sounded just like “she’s here, she’s here, she’s here” I didn’t think anything of it until it kept on and on and on. It was actually getting kind of annoying. I said, “ok, she’s here!” Then it dawned on me that I asked Betty for a sign. And out loud I said, “Oh my gosh Betty, that’s my sign! You’re here!”And the bird immediately stopped chirping!

Pretty clever that her sign to me would be through sound since she was deaf.🦌🦋🐥

Science and Religion are finally coming together. The new science, quantom physics, finally makes sense of what religion has always said. We are spirit beings, temporarily in the form of humans/flesh and blood. We are energy and energy can not begin or end... it cannot be destroyed, it can only change form/transform. So we are forever beings...

Love Thy Neighbor

So, I know I've taken a long break from this blog... But lately, my "daughter-in-law" to be, (Alex's sweet girlfriend) inspired me to post her poem... no words

The real butterfly effect...

Love your neighbors as yourself...

These gals have become such good friends of mine. I've discovered that as you really get to know your "neighbors" you realize, we are all made out of the same fabric. Often we don't allow ourselves the time to get close enough to really get to know each other. We often judge too quickly. Who are we to judge, really??? We all come from different walks of life, but we all function at the highest level we possibly can. When I take the time to really get inside each person's story, I fall in love with them. They are all mini-me's. We are all the same... all broken in some way, but all created in the image of our creator! 

The true church was never supposed to be made up of "religious folks" who try to show the world just how perfect we are... but what knits us together is our authenticity and being the safe place where we are not afraid to be vulnerable with one another, because there are no judges among us. We are not called to be our brothers keeper, but to love each other just as we are. And when you don't understand why someone does what they do, trust that everyone is doing the best they can with what they know... 

When I first met each of these ladies (some from tennis, and some from my neighborhood) I thought we were as different as night and day. But over time, as I plunged into each of their lives, I began to see we were not that different after all. All broken in some way, but all trying to be the best version of ourselves we knew how to be at the time.  As I was invited into their lives and their struggles, we were knit together like family. Hmmm, wonder if that's what the true church is supposed to look like? Loving your neighbors as they are and then helping each other be the best versions of ourselves. All of us each others teacher and each others student.

Quaker pastor Philip Gulley superbly summarizes how we must rebuild spirituality from the bottom up in his book, If the Church Were Christian.[2] Here I take the liberty of using my own words to restate his message, which offers a rather excellent description of Emerging Christianity:

1. Jesus is a model for living more than an object of worship.
2. Affirming people’s potential is more important than reminding them of their brokenness.
3. The work of reconciliation should be valued over making judgments.
4. Gracious behavior is more important than right belief.
5. Inviting questions is more valuable than supplying answers.
6. Encouraging the personal search is more important than group uniformity.
7. Meeting actual needs is more important than maintaining institutions.
8. Peacemaking is more important than power.
9. We should care more about love and less about sex.
10. Life in this world is more important than the afterlife (eternity is God’s work anyway).
